Akshaya Tritiya is one of the most auspicious days of the Hindu calendar. Celebrating the festival of prosperity and good fortune.

This festival is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Worship of Lord Vishnu on Akshay Tritiya eradicates and removes ones sins and makes him free from all sorrows. Puranas described that Devotees who perform Sri Maha Vishnu Puja on Akshay Tritiya may attain salvation.

Meaning Of Akshaya Tritiya:
 The word 'Akshaya' means something that never diminishes and it is believed that something valuable purchased on this day never loses value and therefore is considered auspicious for buying of gold, jewellery and other valuable items.

Akshaya Tritiya is observed on the third day of the Hindi month of Vaishaka and this year it falls on May 6.

Last year, Akshaya Tritiya had fallen on a Sunday and the exchanges had kept trading open till 5 pm.

Importance of Akshaya Tritiya :

  • Hindu Puranas claiming that Trethya Yuga started on this day
  • It is also observed as Birthday of Lord Parshurama
  • Sage Ved Vyas along with Lord Ganesha had started writing epic "Mahabharata" on the day of Akshaya Trititiya.
  • Is is also said Sudama visited lord Krishna at Dwarika on this day with a handful of rice.
  • Lord Balram Jayanti is also obsewrved on this Day.Lord Balram is also referred as one of the Dasavatara, ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu and well known for his weapon "HAL".

India is the largest consumer of gold in the world. Nearly 25 per cent of gold sold in the world is bought by Indian consumers and festivals like Akshayatrithiya, establishes the fact that, irrespective of prices, Indian consumers will always be ready to buy gold.

Every Indian wants to buy at least one gram of gold on
Akshayatrithiya, irrespective of price.
